Meet our Wondermakers - Interview with Stuart

 Published: 01 June 2021

Can you give us a bit of a bio – a quick summary of where you have worked, and what your role is at Digital Wonderlab?

I’ve recently joined the Digital Wonderlab team as Head of Creative Design. In my career prior to this I have created and overseen the creation of considered, contemporary design solutions for a wide range of clients – from charities and membership organisations to some of the biggest commercial brands.

Why, when and how did you get interested in Design?

Looking back, I’ve kind of done it my whole life. When I was a kid I would design imaginary games consoles, or posters for non-existent bands! Ever since I realised I could actually design as a career, I have been working in the field a little more formally for over 20 years.

Tell us about your approach, how do you start a new project with clients?

My approach is always centred around creating design that makes a difference. At the start, this means focussing on understanding both the clients’ objectives and their target audience. This is essential to then create user-focussed products that delight all involved.

What are the types of tools you use day to day?

Mainly Adobe Creative Cloud (as well as my trusty dotted notepads and mechanical pencils).

What’s your favourite bit of tech that you cannot live without?

My current favourite is my Osmo Pocket, a shakey-video-banishing, tiny handheld camera with gimbal stabilisation. Although admittedly it is a tad less tiny now that I’ve attached every single accessory available.

What is your most recent client project that you are proud of?

As this is my first week, neither of the projects I’ve been working on are live yet, but both are really exciting and innovative products that we’ll be able to reveal later this year. (Watch this space!)
